The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio has requested DePuy top executives to present documents and testimonies during the ASR multidistrict litigation in 2013. However, as the DePuy Pinnacle trials come underway in 2014, many believed that the court will also ask the DePuy executives to explain why their Pinnacle hip systems have similar failure rate with their ASR hip devices.

Patients with either Pinnacle or ASR devices might face future difficulties as doctors feared that more than 10 percent of these hip replacements may fail in the next two or three years, according to media reports.
